Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) Training Calendar
This link lists of all classes within the state of Indiana regarding Fire, EMS, Hazmat, and NIMS. Some of these trainings have fees associated with the course.

Indiana Fire Training
This website will show you all the IDHS courses offered for fire and hazmat classes within the state of Indiana. All courses are free! Note that BTFD is within District 8, yet some of Districts 5 and 7 courses are within a 60 minute drive.

National Fire Academy (NFA)
These trainings are free and classes are either 5 or 10 days, most of which are hosted by FEMA at the NFA in Emmitsburg, Maryland. You will need to purchase a meal pass, yet lodging is provided free of charge. There is also an annual Indiana Weekend at the NFA where transportation is provided free by the State of Indiana.

Center for Domestic Preparedness
These hazmat courses are held in Anniston, Alabama and are free to emergency responders. Courses are usually 5-7 days with live evolutions in a controlled environment. Lodging and food provided.

Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC)
The world’s largest fire department related conference hosted in April every year in Indianapolis. There are several workshops and some hands on evolutions as well. Conference passes can be costly, yet BTFD usually has a limited number of conference passes for use.

McNeil and Company E-Learning
These free online courses provide courses on EMS, Fire, and Rescue designed by and for first responders. BTFD uses the site for weekly career staff training throughout the year.

Responder Safety
This website has numerous online videos focused on responder safety in and near roadways.

CSX/CSR Railroad
Provide training to community emergency responders in many ways, including through printed materials, classroom training, online training courses and in-person training at the CSX Railroad Education & Development Institute (REDI) in Atlanta, Georgia.
